Because God's Word is True.
God
believes in you. You may not believe it. But it's true! And God's
word, the Bible, says it's so.
You
may say, "But I'm not good enough for God to believe in me.
I'm not perfect."
First
off, get this into your head - God loves you even though you haven't
been perfect all your life. And he loves you so much, that he wants
the best for you.
Lots
of people have this idea in their head that God is up there, with
a hammer in his hand, wanting everything done his way - or look
out! You're going to get smashed with that hammer.
That's
what I thought too. I was partying like mad. Riding with the bikers.
Doing everything I thought was fun.
But
there was something in me that kept saying life had to be more than
this.
And
that's when I found something better. I re-found God.
I
learned that Romans
3:23 says, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of
God." That meant I wasn't perfect and God knew it.
Later
on Romans
6:23 said, "The wages of sin are death; but the gift of God
is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Oops.
There was that hammer! But then look at how the verse finishes.
I learned God wasn't vengeful and out to get me. But instead, he
was a gentle, loving father who saw that the road I was on wasn't
as fun and full of life as the one he had planned for me.
What?
God wanted me to have a fun and full life? He wanted me to live?
But
how to do it?
Romans
10:9 says, "If you will agree with your mouth that Jesus is
your Lord and believe in your heart that Jesus raised him from the
dead, you will be saved."
Further
on 2 Corinthians 5:11 says, "If any man be in Christ, he is
a new creature. Old things are passed away. All things are become
new."
I
accepted the challenge. I took God up on His word. And I've found
out that He tells the truth.
Sure,
things haven't been perfect. Life's tough. But I've been a new man
since that day. And I'm gradually becoming more and more the man
God wants me to be. More the father my kids want. More the friend
my friends want.
And,
to tell you the truth, I've had more fun and been more fulfilled
than I ever could have guessed back in my biker days!
Take
the challenge. I urge you to do this. Because God really does believe
in YOU! |
